Golf can be an expensive sport. Golf balls can cost $3 or $4, and if you know you're not playing well, and you're likely to not get through the round without losing the ball, it can be best to use cheap golf balls.
Or maybe you're just looking for a cheaper source than the pro shop for the golf balls you like. The internet is the place for that. They don't have to pay rent or someone to sit around watching TV and working the cash register. Cheap golf balls are one of the benefits of the internet.
I remember when I was in high school, I was always fishing balls out of the lake, or looking through the high weeds for extra balls. Cheap golf balls weren't an option, but a necessity. One time I found a ball that looked great--almost brand new. I teed it up and I hit a great drive right down the middle. But then, about half way through its flight it looked like it almost just dropped straight to the ground. My friends made fun of me for playing a dead ball.
I don't know why it did that, and I don't really care, but I figured from then on, I couldn't be so cheap. I'd have to find a more reliable source for cheap golf balls than the weeds.
But sometimes, you know you're not playing your best. Or you're playing a course with a lot of water or narrow fairways, and you just know you're going to lose five balls that round. Who wants to play $3 golf balls when you're just playing for fun and fresh air?
If that’s the case, you might want to lay off the driver and just use the 3-wood, or even a long iron off the tee. Especially on a course with tight fairways that can be the best option. We all love to try to swing for the fences with our driver, but especially if you’re not playing good, that could just be suicide.
